Years ago, Medicare beneficiaries had less supplemental plan choices than they have today. Because of the fewer choices, the process was simpler and fairly stress-free. Fast forward to present day, and the overwhelming amount of supplemental plan options are enough to make someone want to crawl into a hole and hope that the Fairy Medicare Godmother waives her wand to “sort all of this out.”
Well, we don’t have wings (and we don’t always have a wand), but we can definitely help you “sort all of this out.” We are a local insurance agency that works with seniors and beneficiaries on a regular basis by offering step-by-step guidance on the Medicare process and supplemental options. Our insurance agents are appointed, trained, and certified annually with major Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Prescription Drug Plans offered in California. We focus on analyzing Medicare beneficiaries’ needs and provide them with an unbiased, side-by-side comparison of what options are available to them. Our services are always free and we enjoy empowering the senior market with the knowledge that will help them choose a supplemental plan that is right for them.
So, “What is a supplemental plan and what are your options?” The Original Medicare program was signed into law in 1965 and continues to provide beneficiaries partial health coverage. While beneficial to many, the program falls short of providing a solution for chronic conditions, prolonged medical treatments, prescription drug coverage, hearing aids, treatments in foreign countries, and much more. In order to provide coverage for these types of services and products, private insurance companies came up with a way to help cover a portion (or in some cases all) of what Original Medicare couldn’t provide. The solution became supplemental health plans. Today these supplemental health plans are known as Medicare Advantage (MA), Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, and Stand Alone Prescription Drug (PDP) plans.
All of these options are available, but they can vary in coverage and price per individual. This is where working with a licensed and certified insurance agent can help take the stress out of Medicare. These days, having a trusted insurance agent to help you through the Medicare process is almost as imperative as finding the right doctor, car mechanic, or attorney. One of the toughest parts for an individual doing this alone is trying to narrow in on a plan that services their area, a plan that their doctor accepts, a plan that offers the lowest costs for their medications, and a plan that offers the benefits and coverages for their personal health needs. ***POOF*** (That was us waiving our Fairy Medicare Godmother wand). We can do this for you.
